Overview:

This session discusses how to get a new leader off to a successful start. We outline key leadership traits; cover distinctions between management and leadership styles, and how to develop leaders to maximize their full potential before and after leadership selection.

This includes leadership selection, new leader transitions, on-boarding strategies, targeted leadership training and development, as well as using tools and strategies to coach and develop new leaders. We will discuss major leadership styles and how to drive leader performance with performance benchmarks, goals, accountability and performance evaluations.

Why should you attend: Studies show that the #1 reason for voluntary employee turnover is still "poor bosses" Studies also show that senior executive turnover continues to be high - approximately 66% of senior managers hired from the outside usually fail within the first 18 months.

The performance of organizations is therefore synonymous with the performance of their leaders. Poorly led teams result in poor performance and productivity, and cause high employee turnover. Leaders fail less because they are not qualified to lead, but more because they have not been prepared to lead. More importantly, leaders fail because they lack the inherent skills and aptitudes required to be great leaders. Without investing in the steps necessary to get new leaders off to a strong start, companies continue to lose millions in lost productivity and profits. Great leaders set the stage for self-management, motivate and inspire their teams, and result in greater collective performance.
