Overview: This webinar will encourage new, aspiring, or existing leaders to closely examine how they currently function and to think about ways to continuously improve themselves. It also encourages leaders to utilize a variety of leadership tools, communication skills, and team-building tools to achieve optimum performance.

For example, the U. S. Army Handbook says that, to be an effective leader, your followers must have trust in you and they need to be sold on your vision. A well-known executive search company performed a survey on what organizations want from their leaders. The respondents said they wanted people who were both ethical and who convey a strong vision of the future. In any organization, a leader's actions set the pace. This behavior wins trust, loyalty, and ensures the organization's continued vitality. One of the ways to build trust is to display a good sense of character composed of beliefs, values, skills, and traits.

There are insights, ideas, and skills in this webinar that can be of help to you. There is no one who cannot improve his or her skill level in some way. However, do not confuse having knowledge about a skill as actually being able to do the skill in a highly effective manner. There is a significant difference between knowledge and skills. Our primary focus is to help you become more confident in your ability to apply leadership skills, not just understand what it is. The skill is not so much in the knowing as it is in the doing. So, whatever knowledge you gain about leadership here, you are strongly encouraged to try out and practice them in your own role as a leader.

Why should you Attend: You finally got that promotion to a position of leadership - one you've been working hard for -which means that someone was impressed by how you performed in your previous role. But it doesn't mean that you get to just sit back and enjoy the bigger paycheck. Instead, it means you now are beginning the work of transitioning from one role you did well to a new role that most likely requires new skills.

To start, be sure you know exactly what is expected from you in terms of performance and as a leader. Once you know what success means in your new role, you need to get to work on becoming a good leader. Remember that your direct reports are transitioning too. Some may be new to their roles or might even have been your peers.

Although you might assume that your ascension to a role indicates the Company's valuation of your strengths, your need to work to identify your opportunities for improvement so you can continue to learn and grow moving forward. Certainly, your strengths are important and a likely basis for reasons behind a promotion. However, many times what's required for success in the leadership role is much different from-or even completely opposite of-what your previous role was. To become skilled at the requirements for the new role (and beyond), good leaders need to be adept at self-examination to understand what their weaknesses are and where they need to expand for greater success.
